Here is ten ways to handle a difficult child.

These tips are just practical pointer to help you and your kid.

1.CREATE A ROUTINE

Having a good routine helps to avoid surprises and get into a regular habit. They know what to expect and thus less prone for tantrums.

2. SLEEP/ HUNGER

Sleep and hunger are two things that makes any child irritable. A well fed and rested child tend to be more calm especially when you are travelling.

3.DISTRACT

Ah the power of distraction! This is especially helpful in toddlers who are easily distracted. Just when they are about to throw tantrum do something to distract. You can start mimicking animal noise ,give them their favourite toy or break into a dance….

4.KEEP THEM BUSY

Keeping them busy helps. Get them a pet,make them learn a hobby,inviting their friends to play and involve them in family chores like cooking or gardening.

5.STORYTIME

Tell them positive stories with good moral. Children learn a lot through stories. Tell them story with a character ( my favourite is happy jack) about how he is always happy, watches less tv and mobile and eats his veggies.

6.REWARD

Always reward them for the good job they do.It can be their favorite snack,giving them some extra tv time or taking them to a park.

7. NO SPANKING

No need to explain this . Spanking may lead to discontent and behavioral problems.

8. EMPATHY

Empathize.Know how your child feels.Respect their emotions.

9.BE A GOOD ROLE MODEL

Act how your kids want to act.Kids copy your habits.

10.STAY CALM

There will always be times when your patience is tested.So stay calm .Know that ‘this too will pass’..There will be times after your kids grow, you will find all their tantrums funny.
